This innovative blend of metal roofing details integrated within a conventional tiled roof was an enjoyable challenge and the results speak for themselves. For this Architect led design Zinc was used for its versatility and flexibility lending itself well to this project. Wade House unique design requirements specifically called for a material that was adaptable, malleable and durable this is where the well tested traditional material of zinc fitted well in this modern creative design.

On Wade House we used a natural Zinc. This choice was taken for this specific application due to the uniqueness of the roofs design.
A good reason for choosing using Zinc is its ability to be extremely durable with a long life span, when installed correctly.
Zinc also lends itself to being highly resistant to environmental corrosion, by forming a natural patina layer ensuring little or no maintenance during the many years of its use.

Wade House used a unique detail, a subducted box gutter, for a tiled roof. Normally used on fully metal sheeted roofs and manly found in many other European countries today. The same Zinc material was also used for the hip and ridge details matching the gutters.

It was a pleasure to be involved in a project like Wade House as it allowed me to exercise my skills developed over forty years of experience, earned on many Heritage building in the UK and Europe

Working closely collaboration with the Contractor Dan Richardson of DR construction was a delight, we have worked together in the past and have a very good professional relationship. Dan has also shown that he is off the highest calibre and all that works with him hold him in high regard.
All together, I was happy with the overall Aesthetic finish of the project, I can see this project becoming a showcase for best practice and duplicated many times in the near future.
